Going down the half pipe.

As I took my scooter out of the car, I was dripping with sweat because we were at the skatepark. I felt the sweat tickling my face and it smelt yuck. We were there for a reason.

We were there because I was trying to go down the half pipe.If you don’t know what a half pipe is then this is the sentence for you. A half pipe is a ramp and there is half a pipe on the top. The half pipe felt so smooth.

I walked up the ramp and was getting ready to go down.I felt my body shaking like there was an earthquake. I put one foot on the pipe and one foot on the scooter. I was so scared. I nearly peed my pants. I pushed off the pipe and that was it. I thought I was going to die. I screamed, but then I got to the bottom and I was alive! We put the scooters in the car and went home.

This is my recount for week 3. In this piece of writing I had to do one of the most scariest moments in my life. Hope you enjoy.

Narrative Writing

Problem:the priminerster get kidnapped

“Ouch! Why is the ground so hot” April shouted as she walked to the letter box.April was just a normal candyland girl. She had beautiful blue long curly hair, She had shimmery blue eyes, a amazing candy mansion and she had a fantastic life, but she didn’t feel amazing. April had the biggest crush on a boy named September. September was a normal candyland boy. He had dark blue hair that slicked to the side, he had aqua blue eyes,he had the most coolest candy mansion and he had a fantastic life to. He just felt like there was something missing in his life. He also had the most biggest crush on April, but she didn’t know that.

When April got to the letter box she found a letter and it said her name on it. She started to walk staring at the letter eager to open it. Once she got inside she opened the envelope and she saw that it was a letter from the priminerster of the candy land. It said that she had to set up a party for the priminerster and her family. She only had 24 hours and she could bring a plus one to the party. She really wanted to take September, but then she realised that she needed to prep a party for the priminerster. April was the most excited girl in the whole candy land. She ran from the candy shop to the party shop to the confetti shop. April was exhausted, she lay on her couch and she turned on the tv. Immediately the news turned on, it said that the priminerster was adultnapped!

April knew that she had to do something so she drove her car to Septembers house. When she got to his house she was dripping with sweat.Moments later she knocked on the door and it opened. September said “ hi April.” April said nervously “ will you help me find the priminerster that got adultnapped.” September said “of course I will.” So they set off to find the priminerster.

Driving as fast as they could they came past a building that looked very suspicious. The building was old and it had a sign on it that said come in we have free candy. The two children decided to run into the building. When they got in the building they started to look around. After a few minutes they found a scarf and it was the scarf that the priminerster wore. The scarf had a clue on it that said that the priminerster might be close, but she is very far and then there was a strawberry logo. September said “ it is kinda like they are watching our every move.”

They tried to figure out the riddle, but they couldn’t. They hoped in the car and started to drive around a little bit. Then April figured it out. She shouted “ I know where she is!” April led September to a old crusty building. September looked at the building and realised that there was a strawberry on the door. September told April about the strawberry and April said “I know.” “This was the old building that caught on fire and killed my dad.” April said. They pulled the strawberry of the door and it said to go into the building. They went into the building and there she was. It was the priminerster. She was tied to a old crusty chair. The priminerster started clapping.She said “ you passed the test. This whole thing was to test your determination to save me. We do this on everybody in the whole candy world. If they don’t pass then we wipe their memory, but if they pass then we don’t.” April was so relieved that the priminerster was alive. They had a humongous feast that the assistants prepared for the priminerster family and April. They lived happily ever after.

Choice square bar graph.

My maths task this week was a figure it out task. Click here to see it.

The students in Room 8 at Te Paki School wanted to find out which fruits were preferred by class members. Mr Winiata drew some of their suggestions and a ? on the board.

1. Mr Waniata drew a question mark because that means that there might be other fruits that people like.

2. I think that tarak made the most clear bar graph because it is like a pie. So that means that you don't have to read all the time.

3. there might be students who like two fruits instead of one fruit.

3a. It does show that they have apples in their
lunch but not other fruit.

3b. this is to the parents that don't put fruit in their kids lunches. you should put fruit in their lunch because it is healthy and very good fr their learning.

this is my bar graph that I made for my class. the pink is the girls and the yellow is the boys. the boys have 3 apple, 1 orange, 1 banana and one watermelon. the girls have 3 mango, 1 pear, 2 watermelons and one apple. I hope that you enjoyed my blog post.

Narrative Writing

WALT use full stops and capital letters correctly in our writing.

Your task: This term’s inquiry is all about working well as a team. Create a narrative/story. In your story, a group of children are going to get stranded on an island with nothing but a rope, a chilly bin and two cans of spaghetti. Tell the story of how the group got there and how they get off the island.


Characters: two boy twins and a robot.

Setting/ where: on a stranded island in thin air.

Problem: Stranded on an island with nothing but a rope, a chilly bin and two cans of spaghetti.

Resolution: they use their tools.

Write your story here:

“Can I see your ticket please?” The flight attendant asked the two boys. “Oh, you are flying by yourself. Come with me I will take you to first class.” The flight attendant said.

They walked to first class and the two boys thought they were the only ones there, but they weren't. Once the boys got to their seats they realised that there was a famous man named Paul. This man was a famous singer. He asked, “Hey, aren't you Tom and Jerry? I know your dad. He is famous in the business world.”

Tom and Jerry said, “Yeah.”

Once the two boys were settled, for some reason they wanted spaghetti. So the flight attendant, named Hannah, got the boys some spaghetti. Tom and Jerry tried to open the can and they did, but the can flew and broke the window. Then the lid smashed the two boys in the nose and they fell out the window. Hannah the attendant didn’t know because the boys were in a different seat.

Boof! Boof! Boof! The clouds went as the boys crashed down. Crash went the boys as they fell to the island. Tom and Jerry woke up, they realised that they were on a island floating in thin air. When they looked around they saw that there was a chilly bin, 2 cans of spaghetti and a rope. They ran to the thing’s, but then a robot stood up and looked at them in the eye. The robot said “ welcome to the island of nothing. I am the only one that lives here.” Tom and Jerry said “ hi.” The boys walked to the cans of spaghetti and they opened them and ate them. It came to night time so the robot pulled some blankets out of his ear and put them on the boys.

When it was morning Tom and Jerry were playing with the robot. They soon realised that there was a button on the side of the robots body. They pressed it and he turned into a jetpack. The boys were amazed. Tom said “ this is the way we can get of the island.” Tom asked the robot if he could take them home. The robot said “ yes.” The robot turned into a jetpack, they tied the rope to the robot and they put some coconuts in the chili bin. They tied themselves to the rope and they headed home. Once they got home they said “ thank you” and then the robot headed home. They both lived happily ever after.

This week I had to do a narrative for my writing. We had to include one group of children, two cans of spaghetti, a rope and a chili bin. Other than that we could put anything in our writing that we wanted to. I really hope you like my writing for this week.

My teacher's name is Miss West and I am in year 5. I am 9 years old and I go to Pt England School. My favourite thing to do in the weekend is to go swimming at the beach or paint with white and black. My favourite foods are butter chicken and sushi. My hobbies are drawing and reading. I love to go for bush walks and bike rides. I am half Tongan and half English.
