TOP 5 TIPS for future Camp Bentzon Campers ...

Camp Bentzon Kawau Island

Dear Future Campers this is not a letter about how fun Camp Bentzon is, it is a heads up on what to expect while at Camp Bentzon. Trust me you will NEED this advice because the teachers say that “Camp Bentzon is a place where you will learn life skills” and you do, but you're going on a real camp, in the forest!

TOP TIP #1:  If you do happen to wake up early and need to go to the toilet don’t sit there and wait, make as much noise as you can! Now this will definitely get you in trouble, but on the other hand a teacher will come in and you can ask them if you can go to the toilet. (Maybe wait until everyone's awake)

TOP TIP #2:  Pack clothes for after your shower! You would usually have a shower 1-2 hours before dinner, and after your shower if you don’t want to wear your PJ’s you need more clothes, you don’t want to wear dirty clothes. So you need to pack EXTRA clothes.

TOP TIP #3:  Always wear Jandals or Slides in the Shower/Bathroom. Why? I mean NO offence to the camp owners, but the bathrooms get very unhygienic when girls and boys have been using them. You want to make sure that you aren’t bringing wet, dirty feet into your cabin.

TOP TIP #4:  If you're going to pack lollies, chocolates, chips, fizzy drinks or anything like that,  pack them at the bottom of your big bag. Don’t pack them in your day bag with your lunch, because it will be too heavy for the day while you're carrying it around.

TOP TIP #5:  If you want to bring your fancy shoes, also bring a pair of shoes that you can put on easily. I can’t tell you the reason, but you will thank me when you go down stairs, go out to the grass and do something horrifying!

You probably think that these tips were tips that you would obviously remember, but trust me I forgot most of these. With these TOP 5 TIPS you will have a tidy, organised, non-stressful camp! HAVE HEAPS OF FUN!

Extension Art Alive - 2020 Artwork

This is a piece of Artwork I have been working on for the past 5 weeks. I am Tongan and Pakeha so I have made a nature scenery, but have also added some Tongan elements and designs. I have made the Tongan shield and made it a bit lighter so you could still see the background. In my background I have a mountain and a sunset. In my middle ground I have the sea, and in the for ground I have rocks, a bird, patterns and beautiful nature. Please enjoy my artwork!
