Tamarereti

Long ago  the sky was black and there was no stars. In the sea there lived a taniwha in the dark lake Taupo. The taniwha ate   you when you came out at night because he  slept in the daytime when the sun was out and the taniwha was scared of the sun, that’s why the taniwha didn’t come out at night.

The taniwha came out when the sky was black and dark. Everybody was asleep but if you came out at night the taniwha would gobble you up because his stomach was rumbling from starvingness. He was  a horrible creature because he ate everybody.The people could not come out at night they could not see.

One day Tamarereti woke up in his whare and he was starving. Then he went out to fish because his kete  was empty.Tamarereti went out fishing for himself and his family. He  caught three large fish. He was so  happy.

The wind went away so tamarereti couldn't get home so he decided to have a little sleep, but when he woke up the  sky was dark and the waka beached itself.

So he got out of the waka and made a fire with stick, go get his fish and roasted the fish. He knew he would be in trouble.

Saw some pebbles out of the corner  of his eye he  collected as many pebbles as he could and then he went out to the sea.After that he threw the pebbles in the sky and he found his way back home, but best of all the taniwha didn’t come out. When you look up at the sky you can see the seven sisters. That’s the story about the seven sisters and tamarereti.
