Tool Safety - Hard Materials @Tech

(Remember, when researching online, we are considering “wood hand tools”.)

1. Consider the hand tools that you may use in the woodwork shop.

*Mallet - Chisel

2. Consider how they are used accurately and safely.

*Hands behind the sharp end of the chisel and hold it in a fist. Keep fingers away from the mallet and hold it with a tight grip.

3. How should they be stored to be sure that they are in good condition?

* neatly piled in a draw not thrown on top of each other so they don’t go blunt.

4. Think about the way we should behave in a busy workshop to keep safe.

*Stay in our space and leave our tools on the table unless you are working with them. Don’t carry them around to another person's space.

5. Can you imagine a situation that could result in an accident?

*Holding your tools on the wrong side/not paying attention to instructions and then using the tool incorrectly.

6. Produce a short list of “Safety Rules” that we could display in the workshop to remind us of safe working habits.

*Always have a tight grip

*Hands on handle not blade

*Listen to instructions

*hold in fist position

*Have fun while being safe :)

7. Design a “Safety Poster” that could be displayed in the workshop.

Story Starters - Sci-fi birthday invitation

This is a story I came up with from the website called Story Starters. I decided that my genre would be sci-fi. I had to write a birth-day party invitation to a clumsy shape-shifter who has x-ray vision. I was inspired by Finau go check out her blog/blog-post.

Invitation:

On Tuesday it is my official Birth-day Party! I would like to formally invite you to the party.  I have a few rules you need to follow though.
1. You are very clumsy
Since you are a shape-shifter, please turn into something that doesn't have legs/arms.
2. You have x-ray vision
At every single one of my birth-day parties you have looked through the wrapping paper and spoiled my presents. Please STOP! I would appreciate it if you stayed at least 5 metres away from me while I am opening them. Also please shape-shift into something without a mouth.
If you don't want to follow these rules please don't come to my birth-day party at all.

Your's sincerely
Kiarah

Tongan Language Week - Recount (boarding off the plane)

Task Description:

This week is Tongan Language week. For our writing we had multiple choice, but I chose to write a recount. I have written about boarding off the plane. Happy Tongan Language Week! :)

 Tongan Language week - Recount

When: School Holidays

Where: Tonga

Who: My-Self

With the Plane engines still revving my face was stretched out with joy. I had been waiting for nearly my whole life to be where I am today. The most friendly islands in the whole pacific. I was in Tonga!

People ran down the steps with their hawai’i shirts on. It was the school holidays and I had 1 week to make the most out of it. The scorching weather made my sun block melt. It wasn’t long until I was at the bottom of the stairs.

The smell of fresh fruit, the taste of the sea and the sight of a beautiful island, was only the bare minimum of this amazing country. I couldn’t wait to make the most out of this trip. I loved it there!

Quirky Writing Speech

Statement: All of New York City’s Forks should have Drake's face on them.

Person: Drake

Thing: Fork

Place: New York city

Intro:

Introducing Statement.

Topic 1:

When people look at Drakes face it encourages them to recycle their plastic forks

Topic 2:

Metal forks are too shiny and hurt people 's, Drake's face will block the harmful reflection.

Topic 3:

Drakes face makes food taste better

Outro:

Restate Topics

Forks are elite. New York City is Bright. Drake excites . If we combine those three together they could be unstoppable. Just think… Drake's face on all the forks in NYC! It will encourage people to be ECO friendly, Drake's face will help those with sore eyes and it will definitely make food taste better.

People are constantly using plastic cutlery. Even though there is wooden cutlery, plastic cutlery still exists. If we print Drake's face on wooden cutlery it will add more “wow” factor. People will be attracted to these forks more and it will cancel out all plastic cutlery. It is scientifically proven that people's brains get so overjoyed (when seeing Drake's face) that it ultimately makes you sad!

Seeing your reflection in the metal cutlery makes your eyes sore. The light reflects off and it’s so bright that scientists say it’s as bright as the sun! Putting a print of Drake's face will block out all of the harmful rays.

Drake's face doesn't only make forks look better, but it makes the food taste better. When you see Drake's face it sends signals to the brain. Then the brain sends signals to your taste buds. Your taste buds get so excited that it doesn’t care what kind of food it is. It just tastes good. This is also scientifically proven.

Drake would be an even bigger icon from this amazing idea. I don’t know why people wouldn’t want his face on their cutlery. Using wooden instead of plastic is awesome. Helping doctors by reducing patients with sore eyes is also awesome. Last, but not least, food tasting better just because of one simple action is the most awesome. Don’t forget to look at your daily dose of Drake's face.
