Floating human square

This is my group, I had me, Aniqua,Julianna (MY BFF) and Adriana. 
Today after assembly we did something that was very fun. We played a game called the floating human square, at least that's what I call it. The rules were that you weren't aloud to touch the ground with your hand's and your body and if you touched the ground you were out. First it was boys against boys because room 9 the class next to us competed to. There were 4 chairs for each group of boys. The boys had to sit on the chairs,but with their legs out sideways. They had to lie down on the other persons stomach next to them. Then after that the teachers pulled out the chairs. It looked very hard and I wanted to have a go. The first group to fall was our group room 10. After their two goes the girls took over. It was girls against girls. They had to do the ex-ate same thing as the boys. Once the chairs were gone room 9's group fell and our group won, but after maybe 5 seconds they fell. After that the boys went and unfortunately our group fell first,but that is fine with me. After that it was my groups turn I was so excited. We versed Mariko,Kelly,Kamryn and Harmony. When the teachers took away the chairs I thought we were going to fall,but we didn't. The other group fell and we lasted the longest. When they fell we kept going and we won the whole game. It was so fun and I learnt that when we do this game we have to work together as a team.

After that activity we went to our home rooms and did another one. We had to link arm and try to get up,but we couldn't touch the ground with our hands. It was very fun. I was partnered with Julianna. We managed to do it,but we did not win. I learnt that you have to talk in teamwork.

Marshmallow and spaghetti challenge.

This morning we played a challenge. The challenge was that we got 20 sticks of raw spaghetti and 10 marshmallows each in our group. I was in Angelica’s group with Julianna and Latiana. With the products that we had we had to make a tower. We had 15 minutes to make it. At first we were doing great, but then we started to go down hill. We kept trying,but the tower kept falling so I ate the marshmallows. When Miss West said that it was time to finish we did not win. Kristopher’s group won,but it was still very fun. We even got marshmallows at the end.

Flipping fractions

This is my third maths activity for this week. It is called Flipping Fractions. First we had to play a memory game,but with fraction. Then we had to answer the questions provided on the page of the site. If you would like to see these this is the link. 
1.we will get 8 pieces because we played with 16 pieces.
2.If we had 4 people in our group each person would get 4 pieces each.
3.If we had 6 people in our group with 24 pieces each person would get 4 pieces each.

Camp writing.


Year 5/6 Camp - Writing


Have you ever been camping before? Well I have, right here at Pt England school. It is the best school in the world.

The person who created it was Mr Burt. Mr Burt is our principal, but back then when he created camp he was just a normal teacher. This camp was our 29th camp. I was so excited to find out what was going to happen.

This camp was three days long and two sleeps. It was going to be a whole heap of fun. On camp we got into our camp groups with our camp mums, (teacher). My group was called Batay, it means children in Filipino. After that we set off to do our activities. Our first activity was the cup game with Mr Sommerville. First we had to blow up our balloons and blow down the cups down without touching them. Then we had to play the cookie game. We had to put the cookie on our face and then try to move our faces to put it in our mouth. After that we got to go on the slip n slide and it was so fun. The slip n slide was very slippery I mean isn't that why it is called a slip n slide. After a while we finished up and sat down and had lunch. After lunch we went kayaking. We got very wet and I even got a couple of cuts on my foot. After that we found out that we were going to go to the pools, have a swim and then have a shower. We played and got our luggage getting ready to go to the pools. We got to do free time and practice our camp items for the camp concert.

One of my highlights was the food. It was so delicious. One night we had nachos and we even got to have desert. For the first night our desert was caramel slice with whipped cream, sprinkles and fruit cups. The second night we had hot dogs, potato salad, another sausage and coleslaw. For dessert we had yoghurt and marshmallows. Then we had fruit cups.

Another one of my highlights were sleeping in a tent with my best friend. Her name is Julianna. Sometimes she got annoying, but she was ok most of the time. We even secretly had chocolate at night in the tent.

My last highlight was our camp concert. The camp concert was when we had to practice our items and then on Thursday night we performed. My groups name was Batay. It was very fun watching the other groups dance. In between the groups dance’s we had challenges. I think that my group was the best dance.

I would like to say thank you to Mr Burt, Mr Sommerville, all the teachers that were our camp mums, Miss Timi and all the people that made this camp happen. We could not do it without you guys. THANK-YOU!

On camp I learnt that working in a team is better than trying to do things yourself. Even if you don’t like that person that you are partnered with just give them a chance. I recommend that you come to camp because you learn lot’s of new thing’s and have lots of fun.

Introduction


Where, when, who, why



On Monday morning after our 30 minute test, me and my class walked to the field. Our teacher Miss west said, “We are going to play a game. It is called the human knot.” At first I did not know what Miss was talking about. As we walked across the deck leading to the field it was very noisy. Our feet were making the deck chatter.

On Monday morning after our 30 minute test, me and my class walked to the field. Our teacher Miss west said, “We are going to play a game. It is called the human knot.” At first I did not know what Miss was talking about. I was so ecstatic to find out what the human knot was.





As we walked across the deck leading to the field it was very noisy. Our feet were making the deck chatter. Feeling the wet grass was nice because it was nice and cold. We lined up in a line and Miss West shouted, “ get into a pair.” I got into a pair with my best friend Julianna. She ran to me and I ran to her then we banged heads. We started laughing and I nearly cried that I thought it was that funny. At the same time that we were laughing Miss West exclaimed, “ now get into groups of four.” I and Julianna were running around looking for another pair, like two cheetahs chasing its prey. We finally found a pair and it was Angelica and Shayna. Meanwhile the other people were looking for groups we quickly sat down to show that we were in a group of four. Once all of us were in groups of four there were still some people that were not in a group. So Miss West put them into other peoples group. We got Madison, all of us were excited because Madison is so fun and funny.






Miss said,” now this is how you play. You have to get into a group that is more than 2. Then you put your arms up and grab someone's hands, but they can not be next to you. When you are finished tangling yourselfs you have to untangle yourself.” We started to tangle our arms and it was not very hard. We weren't able to untangle our arms, but it was very fun. We got into even bigger groups and it was boy’s against girls. It was very hard when it was more people. The boys won every round, but I am sure that they cheated. We all had a fantastic time including me.
