A monkey named Mr Nowhere, was everywhere. He travelled to the heart of the world all the way to the first ATM in the world. He wasn't any monkey though, he wore a beautiful blonde wig and a 24k gold chain. Mr Nowhere had an expensive custom car, keep in mind that he was a monkey! He owned an expensive Louis Vuitton bag, and many more. Although he owned all this he decided to live in a box, because that's where his family was.

A.N.Z.A.C DAY - Biscuits & Poppy

Today is ANZAC day, I wanted to do something for this, so I made 2 posters. One with a recipe for ANZAC cookies (From Chelsea Sugar NZ), and one with a poppy on it.

The now known as ANZAC biscuits were sent by wives and women's groups to soldiers abroad (The ingredients don't spoil and the biscuits kept well during naval transport).

The poppy's origin as a popular symbol of remembrance lies in the landscapes of the first world war. Poppies were a common sight, especially on the western front.

The Last UFO - Part 2

Last time on: “The Last UFO”...

Although I couldn’t really walk I continued through the caves. I came to the end and could hear drops of sound.I walked through the moss and saw a beautiful, unearthly waterfall. There was light shining through a small gap, which glistened against the water. What was it, it almost looked like a UFO. ALIEN!?

Read the whole story and make sense of it all here

Part 2:

I couldn’t believe that I was in an actual UFO! The light blinded me as I tried to get a glimpse of the aliens. I was so excited it wasn’t even funny. I had never seen aliens nor anything like an alien!

Time passed by and I could finally see something, it was green and it had big eyes. It had long skinny arms and legs and also had no hair. It was… not an alien? It was a cardboard figure all along! How did I get in the UFO though?

“KIARAH! KIARAH! Wake up for school!” Wait, I was in a dream that whole time? Maybe aliens aren’t real after all, I sat in my bed staring at the door. There it was! The cardboard alien, in my dream!

Writing Challenge

It was a dangerous journey through the infestation of blue, the sky was blue, the water seemed blue, my life jacket was blue and my hands were turning blue. I needed to find land, and quick! I saw a gleam in the distance, but because I had fallen in the water earlier, and had no other clothes or towels, my temperature was dropping fast. I reached the gleam of light and also an island! I hopped on and sighed, I ran and saw a broken treasure chest, I opened it up and saw... A whole bunch of dummies (the ones for baby's)!

In the Holidays - A statistics task

Lately we have been focusing on statistical investigations. We’ve been looking at if the graph is fair and what type of questions we can ask. I decided to make a graph about what I do in the holidays, and how much time I spend on each activity. Miss Stone (My teacher) gave the class a task just like this, and I thought i’d do one too. Just about the holidays, because it’s officially the holidays! I hope you enjoy :)

2021 - Term 1 Highlights

I can't believe that Term 1 is already over. It seems like just yesterday we were saying farewell to last year. Even though last year wasn't the greatest, this year has started off with a bang. The rest of the year is unknown, but Term 1 of 2021 was great. I can't wait to tell you all about it!

1: My first highlight, is getting to meet a lot of new people! There were a lot of new students in our class and team. Now there are even more kids to enjoy our wonderful school.

2: The Prime Minister visited our school! That brings us to the second highlight, and if you read the 1st sentence you will know what it is. The Prime Minister, Jacinda Adern came to our school and had lunch with us! She had lunch with us because the government has and is providing FREE school lunches for a year (That was another highlight of Term 1).

3: Out extension group/class has teamed up with Bhav and Toby. These people are working on a project called "Streets for Everyone Project". This is an project where Bhav and Toby are going to be putting little activities around the GI suburbs. The thing is they have chosen us to create those activities! I have had so much fun creating and re-creating. I can't wait to see how they turn out.

4: Sport wasn't a big part of my school life until this Term. At first it was just an extra thing to put onto my college application, but now I love it! I have played soft-ball and Tag, I will also be playing netball in Term 2. Netball is going to be great!

5: Tech has been a highlight of the Term and of the week. I love cooking with Miss Hamer, today we had our last cooking session. We made pizza's! Tech taught me a lot of different skills and safety guidelines. I wonder what class we'll have next.

6: Last, but not least is a trip that the extension kids and a couple other students went on. The ETNZ school experience was great, we went to the city where the old NZ America's Cup boat was held. Genesis and Spark has some really cool activities for us to do. From watching a 360 degree movie to racing robot's, it was a great experience.

Even though we are only 1/4 of a way through the year we have done so many cool things. As you can see I have been really busy, but enjoying every moment of it. Please stay tuned for a Term 2 highlights and please leave a positive comment on my blog.

Trade - A Graph Task

This is a task all about graphs and how some graphs are fair and how some are not. I hope you enjoy :)

Streets for Everyone Project - Final Project

As you may know we have been working on a project, for the Streets for Everyone project. Originally we were going to make a word find, but our idea changed. We decided to make a puzzle, a Kiwiana puzzle.

Since it’s called the Kiwiana Puzzle, we got Kiwiana things and made the outline. Since it’s only the outline we put everything on-top of eachother. There were three categories, General, Sport and food. The pictures won’t be in color so it can be simple and a bit hard. I hope you enjoy our idea!

Streets for Everyone Project - The Process

A couple of weeks ago Bhav and Toby took us for a walk around the Pt England streets. We examined the trees, pathways, basketball hoops, swings, poles and round-about's. We did this so we could find a space to put our projects, for the Streets for Everyone Project.

There were a lot of interesting things that we found. There were lava-lava's on trees, sky-towers made out of chalk and some awesome swings! Toby and Bhav gave us maps to mark out where our projects are going to be.

After that we walked around some more and looked at the different spaces. We took some photo's and started to get a vivid idea of our projects. We came back to school and looked through our plans. A lot of our ideas came into one big idea. We wanted to do connect the dots at first, but then ended up doing a puzzle!

The day was awesome and we saw things in a way that we would never think of. We had to be creative and use our imagination. I can't wait for it to be installed!

Felt’s or Pen’s? - Errors and Fails

Originally this experiment was going to be a Felt vs Gel, which one is better for colouring? Although this was an okay idea, I found a lot f errors. Even though I couldn't complete this experiment, I decided to show you my journey through the FAIL. I hope you enjoy and please leave a positive comment! (It's okay to fail sometimes :)

The last UFO ...

Pitch Black surrounded me as I found my way through the dark tunnel’s. My flashlight ran out of battery and I was now lost in the rocky setting of Peru. It seemed like rocks were appearing out of nowhere, the sharp edges cut through my shoe right into my pinkie toe. Although I couldn’t really walk I continued through the caves. I came to the end and could hear drops of sound.

I walked through the moss and saw a beautiful, unearthly waterfall. There was light shining through a small gap, which glistened against the water. The amazing waterfall shot down like a missile. It was breathtaking. As I walked closer the gap seemed to become larger. There was something there, something humongous.

What was it, it almost looked like a UFO. Of course it wasn’t because aliens aren’t real, so maybe it was a rocketship. Although I didn’t believe in aliens I couldn't stop thinking that it was aliens. My legs froze and I couldn’t move, why? The, whatever it was, had landed! The door opened and smoke covered the atmosphere around me. Out came a…

ALIEN!? So it really was a UFO after all! “Elo e R Er do Esit U!” Were they really Aliens? My body suddenly came back to life and my feet were moving. By themselves. What was happening, was I floating, dreaming or was I still in my own world? The white fog came to surround me and POOF!

I was inside the UFO …

This task was also for practising our skills with the Google Draw tool's. I hope you enjoy while learning something new!

A Series of Unfortunate Events - *The Bad Beginning* - Chapter 2 and Prediction for Chapter 3

Author: Daniel Handler & Brett Hilquist

Title: A Series of Unfortunate Events - *The Bad Beginning*

Genre: Fiction, Mystery, Comedy and Drama

I’ve already done Chapter 1 to this book and thought that I could do Chapter 2. Last time I wrote out chapter 1 and predicted chapter 2. So I’m going to see if my prediction is right.

This is a book about the 3 Baudelaire children. If you like book’s with happy endings then this isn’t the book for you. The children are very unlucky and whenever they think something couldn’t get worse, it gets worse.

Chapter 2:

The Baudelaire children were now officially orphans. Their parents financial advisor, Mr Poe, was now their legal guardian. Until Mr Poe found their new guardian, but not any guardian. It had to be someone who was the closest relative. Violet was devastated, Klaus was demolished and Sunny was too young to understand. The 3 orphans were all sleeping in the same bed. In the room of Mr Poe’s two sons.

The Next morning Mr Poe had some great news. “I have found you all a new guardian!” Mr Poe gleamed with excitement. The Baudelair’s on the other hand were not too thrilled. Silence spread through the car, before Mr Poe could say anything the children jumped to, conclusions. They stared at a beautiful, bright, sharp, spotless, aesthetic and happy house. There was a lady out front named Justice Strauss. She was a high court judge. “You must be our new guardian!” As I said before, Violet jumped to conclusions. Mr Poe rejected this idea and said, “Actually, children, you're looking for a man named Count Olaf.” Justice Straus looked at them, with fear in her eyes and pointed to the house across the street.

This house was a mansion, for sure, even bigger than Justice Strauss. The only thing was that it was, well, a dump. They turned their heads and waved goodbye to the nice lady. There was an eye that Klaus noticed. It was carved into the beam that was hanging over the front-door. Shards of wood were attached to the door  acting as a “shield” of some sort. The leaves on the once precious tree’s, were now ashes of dust. Mr Poe reached out for the doorbell, but the door swung open before he could tap it. Out came a man with crooked teeth, 1 eyebrow (mono brow), tall skinny legs and the children noticed a tattoo of an eye on the man's left ankle. He gave the children a grisly look. “We’ll Children, this is your new home and new guardian, Count Olaf!... “

Prediction for Chapter 3:

Count Olaf sounds like a terrible man and I’m sure the orphans will hate it at their new home. It won’t be soon before they will be moving houses, but I think that they might go to the kind lady for help.
