(Step it up) Cicada Dish - SLJ 2021-2022

One of the tasks this week, was to make a dish with cicada's. I made a traditional meat, potatoes and veggies dish. Enjoy :)

  1. Kia ora Kiarah,
I like the way you have taken this traditional meal and changed it up.
Some people think we should really start eating insects as a protein source as farming them is easy on the environment. What do you think?

  2. Kia ora Kiarah!

It is Charlotte here from the SLJ commenting team!

Pai mahi on completing this task! A classic meal! Except for the cicadas of course. Did you know that cicadas are very high in protein? Protein helps your muscles grow, and your brain to work properly! Would you include a sort of gravy to your meal?

Would you ever eat cicadas? I’m not sure I would…

Keep it up, Kiarah! I’m looking forward to seeing what else you create for the rest of this raumati!

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Charlotte :)

  3. Kia ora Kiarah!

Your plate of cicadas look very appetising, dressed up as a traditional meal...BUT I still don't think it would entice me to eat them! What about you? Would you be up for eating a cicada meal? I think for me, its the idea of the feel of the exoskeleton crunching in my mouth! It give me the shivers!

Look forward to hearing from you.
